We prioritize preparing our members for when they enter the aerospace industry. Whether they are looking for internships, part time work, or full time roles after graduation we help them find opportunities. In addition to helping them find opportunities we bring in guest speakers from local companies, host resume workshops, and organize Q&A internship panels.
This year a senior electrical engineer gave a teach talk on his experience working for Calspan. We learned about the major projects at Calspan, including their wind tunnel testing facility and model manufacturing. He shared how students can begin their career in the aerosapce industry and the opportunities that Calspan offers.
Each year leading up to the STEM career fair we host a resume workshop. This is an opoprtunity for students who do not have a resume or need to update theirs to get help from senior club members. We work one-on-one to go through their experience and skills and format it in a way that best showcases their abilities.
In addition to the resume workshop, we host an internship panel before the STEM career fair. Our panel is made up of senior SEDS members who have internship experience. Students then have the opportunitity to ask questions about finding an internship, interviewing, and the work they did. This is a great opportunity for students who do not know what to expect from an internship.
